are you sure that is not a debian lvm bug (as it's the unstable repo) ? I have tested debian kernel until 3.12 (wheezy-backport), withtout boot problem.

Accept suggested layout from the installer 3) After successful reboot login and change sources in sources.list to point to Debian Unstable. 4) Run apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade. 5) Reboot After upgrading to Debian Unstable the VM can no longer start since the loader is not able to find root file system. Choosing a different kernel emulation than default kvm64 does not fix the problem. There is no problem if you choose to install without LVM but using LVM will render the system unbootable.
