You should show them etoys. Animations are quite easy to do with etoys.
I'm not sure SuperSwiki is ready for prime time, but it definitely meets
the "new HyperCard" spec. Also, there is a HyperCard like stack morph in
newer versions of Squeak. Though the interface may be quite different
from HyperCard, experience HyperCarders would probably find it useful.
If you are looking for a solution to program, it shouldn't be too hard to
build an interface for having embedded Squeak windows in Swiki that could
do the animation-like things.
