Scott,
I don't know if this can help you but if your documents are in MS
Word you can save them in format (htm/html/etc...),
bring them in a browser, view source, copy the source (html) and paste
it in an edited swiki page.

I never tried it but there a 'doc' swiki, on which I think you can not
modify the pages and you don't see the links.
You create a new swiki with 'doc' as the parent... Give it a try.

I have pages with 150 versions and more...but I'm not sure that you
can't modify them once they are in the history!

I agree with you that when we have long pages this is a problem...we
must scroll until...

My experience is that you must go to the 'Upload directory' to delete
them and restart the swiki.
But if you have different versions of an image with the same name the
swiki update to the newest version alone,
you'l see a number near the name in the upload page.
About the pages you rarely need to delete them, you just have to reuse
them. What I do
with this kind of page? I erase the page, make a link with an alias
somewhere on a page (always the same page)
ex: *Dummy page> aPage*
when I need a new page I go tho this 'Dummy page', edit and change is
name, and use the new name where I need it.

Can't help
