Subject: [py-transports] State of the PyAIM =)

Hi folk,
Since I don't tend to put out as many releases as James, I feel it's
probably good to update you all on how things are coming from time to
time. =) So I just finished my buddy icons/avatars code. Much to
my annoyance, AIM does not support PNGs. It also only supports sizes
15x15 - 64x64 (thanks to Julius for pointing this out). So I had to
do some magic on icons before I pass them over to AIM. Whee!
Anyway, I have only a few things left on my list before I put out an
update. There were a couple of features I wanted to get in before
putting out a release, but I think it would be more helpful to get
the new release out and get pyicq up to snuff and then go back to new
features. I know there's been a lot of desire for a new pyicq. I
apologize for the delays. I will not be doing file transfer for
0.7. That will be for 0.8. I am debating not worrying with
groupchat fixes yet for 0.7. Something is dead wrong with it and I'm
not sure what that something is. =/ Very hard to trace. I'm also
probably not going to worry with jabberd2 component protocol support
yet. I took some light stabs at it but haven't gotten to a point
where I'm ready to call it gold. (besides, it gets mad when you
don't have Twisted 1 right now ;D) I don't think I'm going to worry
with twistd yet either. My last couple of plans for 0.7 are this:
- xdb spool import/export script (to convert between xdb types)
- fix problems when multiple resources are logged in
- update instructions to be like.. accurate and useful =)
I'm also thinking about putting together a quick blog type thing on
blathersource somewhere where I talk about how things are going from
time to time. (probably as opposed to sending out email) Just
curious, but would anyone even care to read such a thing if I did
it? (I'm not sure that a "no" will mean that I won't do it ;D but
still) Hell, you never know, if I comment on troubles I'm having
with things, someone may have some insight for me. ;D
Anyway, that's all for now. Looots of new features and such. Just
need to get it out the door. =)
Daniel
