erh, I think we're getting our lines crossed here.

I thought that the chat node was appearing as a child node of the root
jabber server:
 Jabber Service
 |-Yahoo! Transport
 \-Yahoo! Transport Chatrooms

and what you're saying is:
 Jabber Service
 \-Yahoo! Transport
    \-Yahoo! Transport Chatrooms

which is how it's supposed to show :-)

At the moment there's no easy (i.e. configurable) way to disable the
chatrooms. Sounds like this is something some server admins would
want to be able to turn off.

If you don't use SASL authentication (so comment
saslUsername, useComponentBinding, and useRouteWrap), then users will
be unable to access the chatrooms (the node will still appear in the
list, but won't work)

Yep, Exodus is being silly here. That's perfectly valid XML that
Exodus shouldn't complain about.

Thanks very much for tracking this down. As you've probably noticed I
haven't had much time to do any work on the transport lately.

I've committed a fix to svn r227.

Thanks again to those who tracked this down.

Apologies in advance for the off-topic post, but I'm wondering if anyone
on this list has had any experience with the 'C' yahoo transport.
Specifically if it is easy to disable the buddy list import function.

Thanks in advance,
