What is the Vim version you are running ?
Can you check if the installation did create the directory:

    ls -l "/usr/                          /usr/share/vim/vimfiles"

What is the output of this command in Vim:

    :echon $VIM

I suspect that it may be:

    '/usr/                          /usr/share/vim'

In this case, can you run the installation once again after
setting the envt variable $VIM:

    export VIM=/usr/share/vim
