Hallo! My names are Joe Mwangi.I am a 22 year old Kenyan citizen who has
installed
Suse Linux 10.1 i586 on his PC.Also,I have installed eclipse 3.2.2 and Python
2.4.2.

I was hoping to have a python IDE.Using the Eclipse Update Manager,I have tried
to install PyDev but to no avail.Unfortunately for me,my PC is not connected
to the internet thus I usually download a software from an internet cafe , then
copy it to my machine and install it.I am trying the same with PyDev.The next
paragraph is a very detailed description of the steps I have taken to install
PyDev.

I have downloaded org.python.pydev_1.3.8.jar and
org.pyhton.pydev.feature-1_3_8.zip
and stored them in a folder called PyDev on my Desktop. From the Eclipse Help
menu,I went to Software Updates->Find and Install and selected 'Search for New
features to install'.A dialog box appears where one is to choose among 3 sites
to include in search i.e. Callisto Discovery Site,PyDev Extensions discovety
Site and Eclipse Project Updates.I have tried several scenarios where I have
chosen one,two or the three sites. There are also five buttons to choose
from:'New
Remote Site','New Local Site','New Archived Site','Import Site'and 'Export
Site'.Also,I have tried several scenarios where I clicked each button at any
given time and tried to load the jar or zip file.I cannot load any of the files
and in cases where it seems possible, for instance, when I click on 'New Archived
Site' button,a dialog box appears stating the following 'Selected archive does
not contain an update site. Please select an archive site.'

What could be the problem?I have been thinking that the jar and zip files are
actually for Windows OS,not Linux. If so,where an I download the ones for Linux
or which are the correct software pieces for Linux?I need for both the PyDev
and PyDev Extension files. Also, what are the correct steps for installing PyDev
in Linux?

Please respond to my request as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.
