Yes, they run just fine under eclipse.  The only program that thinks there is
any problem at all is pydev.

Just to see if it was my system, I've tried it on several other linux distros.
Namely I've gone through ubuntu, knoppix, fedora, and slackware.  It behaves
the same in all environments.  It seems like the only packages it can 
successfully
import are builtins, and packages that are within the project's source folder.
I have noticed that if I create another source folder and add it to the 
project's
python path it behaves the same way.

It is very frustrating.  My theory is that package import in pydev is severely
broken.  It's not just this one installation, it happens on any box/distro I've
tried it on.  I can, of course, make it not report import errors, but that's
an unacceptable solution because it takes away code completion.
