I can only think of two people who might answer that question (Illume and Pete), perhaps they haven't had time to read the list for a few days? Even if 1.8 is released in time, it may be that not everyone will be able to use it, there might be unknown bugs etc. It might be wiser to use 1.7 for pyweek. -Sw.
