Hmmm, difficult to say what the problem could be. Can you post the
whole code here or at least the minium of code completly working and
producing the error (including screen initialize, etc.)?
Are you working on Windows, Linux or Mac?
With current stable you mean 1.7x?

About your problem: Based on your code its hard to say what the
error is producing. It could also come from the load_bg routine.
F.e. the routine is returning anything else but not a routine. If
you could list that as well.... The pic isnt lost between the
sections, IF its there.
there is only one surface lost error ;) it comes from def
_surface_blit in surface.py when SDL_BlitSurface returns -2
load_bg is just a wrapper for pygame.image.load('data/
bg.png').convert(16, HARDWARE) the question is how does the surface
get lost between doing this and blitting on ajacent lines when
python is in full control of the video memory at the time.
What Pygame version you are working?
The current stable and python2.4 windows binary versions
