Python2.6 comes with json. Other than that, it is a small thing to include.
The library seems to be built around json, so removing it as a dependency doesn't make much sense. I took a look at this library when you announced it and thought it looks good, but I haven't had a chance to really try it out. The whiteboard example is very impressive! It looks a lot easier to start working with than twisted.
