thanks for reporting the bug... it shouldn't hang things.
Note, that it's generally better to let your program end naturally, rather
than calling sys.exit.
For example, you can do it the way mentioned below...
import pygame
from pygame.locals import *
going = True
screen = pygame.display.set_mode((320,200))
while going:
events = pygame.event.get()
for e in events:
if e.type in [QUIT]:
going = False
pygame.display.flip()
