This answer is a matter of opinion, and I am sure other people can offer different viewpoints, but for myself, I would suggest focusing on pygame1 for any projects you are starting *today* It has a long history of being stable, people have made tons of games with it, and by the time pygame2 is finished, it is very likely to have a backcompat interface so pygame2 will be able to run pygame1 games with a minimum of modification.
Maybe later, when pygame2 is a little more mature, it will make sense to start with it, but your experience with pygame1 will certainly not be wasted when that time comes. Other opinions welcome :) --- James Paige On Tue, Apr 16, 2013 at 08:56:32AM +0100, Andrew Barlow wrote: > Yeah, it'd be great to know the differences between PyGame 1 and 2, > advantages, disadvantages, etc. > > My big question (besides all the others I've posted ;-) ) is which should > I be using if i'm starting a project, right now? > > My Python is pretty sound, just not sure which version of PyGame I should > be learning. > > On 16 April 2013 00:39, Sean Felipe Wolfe <ether....@gmail.com> wrote: > > On Apr 15, 2013 12:55 PM, "VinAcius Naves Castanheira" > <vncastanhe...@gmail.com> wrote: > > > > What's the advantages of this "pygame 2"? > > > > 2013/4/15, m...@sysfault.org <m...@sysfault.org>: > > > Paul Vincent Craven <p...@cravenfamily.com>: > > > > > >> I think Pygame 2 is dependent on SDL 2 mostly.
