i wouldn't go black and white on the issue of explicit/implicit size declaration. Better to have the option for explicit declaration and a property method that pulls size from a sprite, or then layout (or vice versa) if not declared. Items could be pushed onto the display stack like spans, breaking based on parent parameters, or declared blocks to span the entire width... Yeah i guess i think in css
