for us at the moment, so anything I can do to help I will:
do you have any idea which areas to investigate (when I can
grab some time, I'll try and look at a wine exe too to see
if I can help track this problem down)?

That's interesting: I've also noticed that the problem
seems to occur more often inside a VMWare virtual machine.
Could it be something to do with the way that pyinstaller
interacts with the filesystem (ie at some level it's
expecting the driver to do things in a certain order, but
in Wine and vmware, the drivers behave differently)? (maybe
inside the python VM itself rather than pyinstaller code?)
