Correct. There has been some support for cross-bundling in earlier
versions, but it worked only for pure python programs (without extension
modules) so we removed it.

(Thanks Thorsten for pointing to this very aspect of the question.)

If you want to bundle your program for Linux, a virtual machine works
perfectly. You may even try someting like "Cooperative Linux" or "User
Mode Linux". If you try one of the later, please share your experiences
here. :-)
