Since this was a bit confusing, let me summarize:

In 64-bit, I get the TCL/TK Error with *all* versions of pyinstaller and with
both versions (released and dev) of my program.

In 32-bit, the released version of my program builds successfully with
pyinstaller v1.5.1 and with pyinstaller d9b704e08e2.

The dev version has the TCL/TK error with all versions of pyinstaller and in
both 32 and 64-bit. It differs from the released version mainly in that it
imports matplotlib, numpy, scikits.resample, and a few other things.

Using 32-bit with the released version, I ran git bisect, starting with the
working build, d9b704e08e2:

git bisect bad 2cf1972b9
git bisect good d9b704e08e2
Bisecting: 5 revisions left to test after this (roughly 3 steps)
[72875a36453d9ff00e8cb46210db96aa9463ea7d] Yet unused TkPKG and TkTree throw
error if used

Still fails.

git bisect bad
Bisecting: 2 revisions left to test after this (roughly 1 step)
[b24adc13eb454a59f6f4aee222cde197c7e32fbe] Replace useTK.py by a normal
runtime-hook.

Still fails.

git bisect bad
Bisecting: 0 revisions left to test after this (roughly 0 steps)
[2411de16d11918787abc4a96135d5dbfbb03c4c9] Eliminate useless tcl/tk
version-number from dist-data-dir.

Still fails.

Going back one more change bring me back to d9b704e08e2, so the last change
listed appears to introduce a bug.

Finally, I was unable to checkout v1.5.1 from my git clone of pyinstaller
error: pathspec 'v1.5.1' did not match any file(s) known to git.
but I did test v1.5.1 as downloaded from the pyinstaller site.

Hope this makes it a bit more clear.
