Hello,

Something we have been working a lot on lately is SimpyCity. It is LGPL
and designed to be used in place of SQLAlchemy. Here is a howto on how
to use it with Pylons:

The basic idea here is, nothing is smarter at being the DB than the DB
so let's DB for what it is already good for instead of abstracting away
(and destroying) all the usefulness.

To be fair, SQLAlchemy is better than others with this but generally
speaking :)
