Is there a post somewhere listing status of planned pymedia codecs forthcoming? I thought I saw something on DVD support in 1.4? The web page says mpeg2 is supported now and DVD = mpeg2? The docs say an exception should be thrown if your codec is not available, but I get segfaults:

"Fatal Python error: (pygame parachute) Segmentation Fault"

on an AVI that unix 'file' describes as:
"RIFF (little-endian) data, AVI, 720 x 480, ~30 fps, video:, audio: uncompressed PCM (stereo, 32000 Hz)"

Pygame and pymedia work fine on a simple mpeg1. Perhaps it makse sense to burden the download size with some very short low res video clips as a test suite for pymedia.

Finally, is pymedia the only place to be for python based decoding/encoding? There used to be PyXine, a wrapper for Xine, that seems to be abandoned.
