CentOS5/RHEL5 is based off Fedora Core 6, which is a bit dated for
modern hardware. If you want most stuff to work, try something like
Fedora 12. This will be especially true with your ethernet/wireless
chipset, which most likely requires a kernel less than 6 months old or
so in order to be supported out-of-the-box. Better yet, just try
booting a live CD or USB stick and see how things work before
installing anything.
