Hi Francis,

Yes, this problem is because the set_object_ttt() invalidates the object 
and scene, which causes PyMOL to re-render the scene.  Unfortunately, 
there is no workaround for this at the moment, but we are working on a 
fix for this and will have a fix for this soon.
