Dear PyMOL Community,
We are pleased to announce the release of DSSR-PyMOL v2.0.0
(dssr_select.py).
This major release bridges DSSR-based structural analysis, stylized 3D
base-block modeling, and an interactive pure-Python 2D secondary structure
layout studio within a unified PyMOL workspace.
HIGHLIGHTS OF v2.0.0
* Interactive 2D RNA Layout Studio (dssr_2d):
Integrates a lightweight, pure-Python layout engine ported from
ViennaRNA/fornac (naview.js). Supports Standard NAView, Circular, Linear
(arc), and Radiate projections with automated tRNA cloverleaf orientation.
* Bi-directional 2D <-> 3D Selection Linking:
Selecting bases, box-dragging, or using the brush tool (B) in 2D
immediately highlights corresponding residues in PyMOL's 3D viewport.
Selections made in PyMOL's 3D view mirror back onto the 2D diagram and 1D
sequence ruler in real time.
* 1D Sequence Ruler:
Displays full sequences with native PDB residue numbering and chain
boundaries for precise inspection and range selections.
* Integrated 3D Schematic Blocks (dssr_block):
Generates customizable base slabs (Watson-Crick face, minor groove edge,
G-tetrads, and more) natively via DSSR.
* Publication-Quality Export:
Export customized 2D diagrams directly to vector SVG or high-resolution
PNG, and save or reload layout coordinates (.dssr2d.json).
QUICK START (1-Minute Tour)
In the PyMOL console:
fetch 1ehz, async=0
as cartoon
run dssr_select.py
dssr_gui
You can also launch the workspace directly from the menu via:
Plugin -> DSSR
