Very interesting, Bryan, It is my strong desire
to keep in touch with people interested in this subject, and share
experiences.
Now, about your
experience.
-- “PyInstaller” has
not been updated to Python 3, therefore I cannot consider it, alas.
(Reason: I'm working
on an Eric (5) Tech.Report, requiring Python 3 – See Eric5-TR
Specimen:

)
-- I'm too almost
exclusively operating on Windows platform.
-- “InnoSetup” used
as a “pure” packager then, for executables created elsewhere. Of
course I'd rather use one single tool, both for creating executables
and packaging them...
-- I'll be happy to give
a look at CMake / CPack, which I don't know. About my experience.
-- I've got and
installed “cx_Freeze”. No primer, no example of use, therefore I
haven't been yet capable of breaking ice, that is learning how to use
it, so far.
See you.

only distribute to Windows environments (for now), so I use PyInstaller to
create an executable then package it with Inno Setup. The multi-platform CMake
/ CPack approach for packaging might work well, but I haven't looked into it.
Does anyone have experience with this, or other approaches?BryanOn Tue, Mar 19,

I wander if, as
designers, at a project completion, you normally use a S/w Packager
for your product's distribution. Or not.I'm currently rather
interested in such final phase of the designing cycle. Thanks. - P.M.
