Now that Python is being embraced by Nokia, should we be expecting
Python support in qt-creator?
Hi Eric,
(Sorry for the slight delay in my answer.)
Qt Creator support was actually discussed a couple of months ago on the
project IRC channel together with some guys from the Qt team actually
developing Qt Creator. Apparently Python support wouldn't be that hard
to add but for the time being the core dev team if fully occupied with
implementing and improving the basic features of the PySide bindings and
generator. We just don't currently have the resources to work on the Qt
Creator support or on many other features we'd love to have.
I believe the currently recommended IDEs for PySide development would be
the already mentioned Eric4 or Eclipse+PyDev (or just use Emacs or Vim
:-p). Personally, I'd love to see Python support in Qt Creator--if
someone would be interested in working on that, I'd be more than happy
to dig out the names of the people to help them getting started. :-)
Also, please take none of the above as an official Nokia statement or
endorsement but just as my personal opinion.
Cheers,
ma.
