Hi Shyaam,

I am new to the Python world. Just went to a Py training couple of weeks ago and am planning to do some open source tools on Py with the GUI Qt. Hence, I have subscribed to this mailing list, purchased a couple of Py & Qt books. I am sure, there would be some thread of the same type. Is there a specific guidance someone could give me on, where to start.

Hi,

I believe you're already on the right track. Mark Summerfield's book is an excellent introduction (well, much more than that, actually) to PyQt programming. The differences to PySide are minor, mostly you can just fix the import line and are good to go. You can just follow the exercises on the book or do as almost everyone else, pick a simple project and begin coding that with the help of the book. :-) Of course, you're bound to rewrite your program a couple of times, but that's the learning part. :-)

There are also some fine tutorials available on the web - not so for PySide yet, but as said, the differences are mostly minor.

And of course, if you have some specific issues, don't hesitate to post on the list!

Cheers,

ma.
