I know so little about PySide that it really does not matter. Just to add to the confusion, if parent is "None", then the widget becomes the MainWidget. Widgets that are placed on a MainWidget automagically become children of the MainWidget (and MainWidget becomes their parent, so that every main program run has only one MainWidget).
