Go grab ODE 0.7, it's been out for two weeks now!
I'm looking at all this and thinking we'll be using some combination of AABB "collision reduction" with ODE's collision detection.
There's no reason to reinvent the wheel, and beside, we'll be a usin' da O-D-E tang anywhoo!
