Terry J. Reedy <tjre...@udel.edu> added the comment: I improved UTF16.__getitem__ to handle negative indexes and slices. The later uses the same adjustment as for indexes. An __iter__ method is not needed as str.__iter__ used __getitem__. I will take further discussion of this prototype to python-ideas list.
