New submission from Tshepang Lekhonkhobe <tshep...@gmail.com>: The argparse example (http://docs.python.org/dev/library/argparse.html#example) introduces way too many concepts too early. It's written as if targeted to existing users of optparse, instead of newcomers to Python's CLI handling.
Perhaps the example could be more gentle, or if there is insistence on showing off, maybe the page could be kept as-is, but with a link to some tutorial (as is done with logging: http://docs.python.org/dev/library/logging.html). ---------- assignee: docs@python components: Documentation messages: 153491 nosy: docs@python, tshepang priority: normal severity: normal status: open title: the example in argparse doc is too complex type: enhancement versions: Python 2.7, Python 3.2, Python 3.3 _______________________________________ Python tracker <rep...@bugs.python.org> <http://bugs.python.org/issue14034> _______________________________________ _______________________________________________ Python-bugs-list mailing list Unsubscribe: http://mail.python.org/mailman/options/python-bugs-list/archive%40mail-archive.com
