Guido van Rossum added the comment: Would it make sense to explore this in the Tulip project first? It could be a new module, tulip/selector.py. (Heck, I'll even give you commit privileges in Tulip.)
Also, I've heard (but don't know from personal experience) that Jython supports select but it takes only lists of socket objects, not file descriptors (which don't exist in Java).
