R. David Murray added the comment: Well, the first thing to do would be to write a test that reproduces the problem. There is test infrastructure in Lib/test/test_imaplib.py, but I will admit that writing the server side of imaplib tests is not a walk in the park. You are welcome to take a look. If you can figure it out, you'll be on your way to being a non-newbie Python programmer :)
