I'm of two minds about this. It may well be an appropriate patch for 2.5.2 -- I seem to recall having to do something much like this in the new SSL module -- but it patches the old SSL code which we are replacing for 2.6. And I'd recommend downloading and using the new SSL code from PyPI with pre-2.6 Pythons instead of using the supplied support.
