Perhaps following technique can be used to prevent object's life prolongation:
def spam(self, *args, **kwargs):
@lru_cache(maxsize=20)
def spam(foo, bar=1, *, baz=None):
...
self.spam = spam
return self.spam(*args, **kwargs)
