R. David Murray added the comment: The patch looks good, but 'splitdoc' needs to remain a valid name for the function in the pydoc namespace. You could just add 'splitdoc = inspect.splitdoc' after the import statements. (The reason it needs to remain valid is for backward compatibility...there may be people who discovered it and have been importing it from pydoc.)
