New submission from Julian Gilbey: In re.rst, the re.compile documentation says:
Compile a regular expression pattern into a regular expression object, which can be used for matching using its :func:`match` and :func:`search` methods, described below. This results in linking to the re.match and re.search module functions instead of the regex.match and regex.search object methods.
