The problem is super simple:
connection = ...
cursor = connection.cursor()
cursor.execute("SAVEPOINT foo")
cursor.execute("ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT foo") # will report that the savepoint
doesn't exist.
Please don't make it look more complicated than it is.
