Thank you for your explanation of the bug in Idle. I know Idle has limitations, but it is quite adequate for the programming I want to do. I agree that when this error occurs there should only be a warning, so the user can decide what he wants to do about it. There is however one fault in Idle that would be good if it were fixed. That is, it does not show line numbers. Since errors all indicate the line number the error occured, having the line numbers on the listing would be very useful. One other thing. Now the problem is solved but it is still showing status 'open' on the problem site, how do I change the status?
