R. David Murray added the comment: I find it amusing that the complaint is that Python isn't detecting the BOM and using the info when powershell produces it, but when python produces the BOM, it is powershell that isn't detecting it and using the information. So it looks like there's a bug here in powershell no matter how you look at it ;)
