Martin Panter added the comment: Yes it makes more sense to me to move the file to a common directory. That should avoid any potential conflict with pyconfig.h. What did you mean by a platform-specific filename?
Here is a patch to move the file. I have not tested regenerating it however, so it would be good to get some feedback on that.
