Ned Deily added the comment: Terry et al: is anyone from the Python Packaging Authority (and or distutils-sig) involved in this project? After all, pip is developed and maintained by them, not by python-dev. I don't think we should be committing code to the Python Standard library for an interface they control that does not at least have their blessing. Nick, what do you think?
