Zachary Ware added the comment: "Agreed" is a bit strong, I still don't agree that the change was bad or should be reverted. I'm just not ruling out the possibility of a partial (because there is absolutely no reason to re-add the files for any platform but Linux and *maybe* OSX) reversion if you put forth the effort to do it after #28046 and add deprecation notice.
