In the following case, when there is no file or directory 'a', glob will still 
return it:

>>> glob.glob("a/**", recursive=True)
[ 'a/' ]

Note that this is inconsistent with the '*' pattern:

>>> glob.glob("a/*", recursive=True)
[]
