Brett Cannon <br...@python.org> added the comment: At the language summit I actually plan on proposing separating out the Python the language and standard library from CPython. That would make this patch mostly unneeded as the CPython-specific tests and code would simply be kept separate from the language code that PyPy and other VMs would use.
