The pitfall of PyType_FromModuleAndSpec() is that it makes types instantiable by default if tp_new is not provided. Created objects can crash when you try to use them because they are not properly initialized. When there was few uses of PyType_FromModuleAndSpec() I fixed them and added tests, but now there are much more types created with PyType_FromModuleAndSpec().
