I'm not sure I understand what you're saying (but then, I have little experience with locales on Windows). My assumption is that nl_langinfo(CODESET) does not work on Windows or gives wrong results. Is that incorrect ? If it does work, getencoding() could just be a shim over nl_langinfo(CODESET) on all platforms. -- Marc-Andre Lemburg eGenix.com _______________________________________________ Python-bugs-list mailing list Unsubscribe: https://mail.python.org/mailman/options/python-bugs-list/archive%40mail-archive.com
