The problem is that the curses module is using a function that requires to be 
built in the core:

#ifdef Py_BUILD_CORE
extern int _PyStructSequence_InitType(
    PyTypeObject *type,
    PyStructSequence_Desc *desc,
    unsigned long tp_flags);
#endif
