msiexec /i python-2.6.1.msi /l*v python26.log and it now has an icon in the Add/Remove Programs list. Please see the attached screenshot. My Windows Vista is Business Edition, Service Pack 1. I got it by buying my laptop and then upgraded it to the Service Pack 1 version and I have the very latest updates installed on it, too. I don't know what do you mean by specific version.
