I modified the systems /etc/make.conf for unrelated purposes today (adding in LASTCFLAGS among other variables). Why and how Pythons build is inheriting that is the bigger question. I wonder if its buildbot environment related. In the short term I've removed the variables from /etc/make.conf and I have initiated a rebuild.
