Antoine Pitrou <pit...@free.fr> added the comment: I'm not sure what we should do anyway. Your program will first swap out and thrash before the MemoryError is raised. Invoking the GC when memory allocation fails would avoid the MemoryError, but not the massive slowdown due to swapping.
