Éric Araujo <[email protected]> added the comment: FWIW, I’m no longer strongly advocating using $XDG_CONFIG_HOME, since it seems to have little acceptance outside of graphical applications. Using it *or* ~/.python (or ~/.pythonx.y) would work for me.
Since this seems like a big change for no benefit in distutils, I’m reassigning to distutils2.
